Ultimate Maternity Session by Petra King
This past March, our Ballroom studio was filled with an abundant amount of sweets and lush red roses, all with a special audience in mind!
“The Ultimate Maternity Session” was a photoshoot concept created by Petra King, a baby and maternity photographer who wanted to “celebrate expecting mamas-to-be in honour of International Women’s Day.” King did not shy away from the idea of a feminine setting, decorating our Ballroom studio with overflowing rose strollers, choosing long, blush tulle skirts as wardrobe and bringing in a selection of colourful desserts with garnishes carefully displayed for mothers to treat themselves to.
“We wanted to give our moms a luxurious shoot that was different and unique, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to feel amazing about themselves and all things motherhood when, at times, pregnancy can make you feel anything but glamourous,” states Petra, the brains behind it all alongside Aspen Florist, one of King’s favourite businesses’ to work with.
Her vision perfectly aligned with the elegant setting of our Ballroom studio, a vivid and optimistic space for King and her team to work in. “We chose Mint Room Studios for our venue since we fell in love with the bright, airy and elegant Ballroom-style room. This set the tone for our event, as we knew it was important to make our moms feel like royalty. Mint Room certainly did not disappoint! I highly recommend this venue and can’t wait to get back there for our next event!”
There’s no doubt that King’s clients felt the celebratory energy Petra gave off, with their contagious smiles and ease in front of the lens captured in the final photographs. As she reveals, “I have been in business for more than 14 years and have a strong connection with all of my clientele. I LOVE being able to journey with them before and after they have grown families. It is such an honour to share their story and document their most important milestones in life.”
When asked for parting advice, King says, “Find your niche and be authentic. Be yourself. Keep creating and learning to stay passionate. Find ways to set yourself apart and grow your brand. Network and invest in yourself. You are SO worth it!”
