An Editorial Photography Workshop Recap
On April 19th, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting our first-ever editorial photography workshop. The event was a huge success, with creativity swirling all about our Moonlight Garden full of inspiration and ideas to implement for upcoming shoots. Kicking off our workshops has been a special project in the works for years and we are thrilled to share with you a recap of the first (of many🤞🏼) workshop days!
Leading up to the big day, our team meticulously crafted the schedule and topics covered, to ensure that each attendee got the most out of the workshop. Our editorial workshop was led by Olga Pavlova, a professional Toronto-based photographer, specializing in branding, commercial, and editorial photography in addition to female and male portraiture. Limited to only 12 spots, the workshop was designed to provide a truly unique and personalized experience for all who attended.
The day started with attendees arriving at the Moonlight Garden and being greeted with refreshments and snacks. Olga then introduced herself and shared her vast experience in editorial photography, setting the tone for the day.
Mimosas and refreshments in hand, the first half of the day focused on lectures surrounding all things technical. Our attendees were able to learn how to better market themselves, with Olga touching on social media marketing for photographers, including the best practices for content strategy, identifying your target audience, mini sessions as a promotional strategy and collaborations & creative shoots.
Our composition lecture of the technical portion gave our attendees a chance to bust out their notebooks and gain greater insight to work with lines, shapes and textures that make a photo. We discussed angles, balance, the rule of thirds, symmetry, leading lines, framing, depth of field, and other composition techniques.
As this was happening our amazing Makeup Artist, Angela Xuereb, was working her magic and prepping our professional model for what would be the highlight of the day. With a hands-on portion coming up, Angela did an incredible job making sure our model was ready for her close-up.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the editorial-style photoshoot, where attendees were given a brief and the opportunity to work with a professional model to put their new skills to the test. Olga provided guidance and feedback throughout the shoot, helping attendees refine their technique and improve their photography skills.

With a smaller group in session, each attendee had ample time to ask questions, receive feedback, and practice their skills in a supportive environment. Olga was able to work closely with each attendee, providing personalized guidance and feedback to help them improve their technique.
We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees and are thrilled to announce that we will be running a second round of the workshop on May 10th. The second round will be the exact same as the first workshop, providing an opportunity for those who missed out to learn from Olga and develop their editorial photography skills. As of today, the tickets are 50% sold out, and you can snag a ticket before they’re all gone here.
If you are interested in keeping an eye on upcoming workshops, we highly recommend signing up for our early access sign-up here. Our first round of the editorial photography workshop sold out in under two hours, with most people missing the opportunity before they did their social scroll of the day.
We can’t wait to see you at our next workshop and share our passions with you!
