Manal Shaikh (@manal) is one of the most influential digital strategists in the beauty world and the brains behind @wakeupandmakeup, the largest beauty tutorial community with over 11.4 Million followers. Manal joined forces with Sabrina Wassel, a talented makeup artist best known for her before and after series, and brought to life Bollywood Recreation series – artistic photo shoots that recreate iconic looks from Bollywood films.

For their second installment, Manal and Sabrina recreated a look from Dolly Ki Doli, a Bollywood film starring Sonam Kapoor @SonamKapoor as Dolly, a beautiful con artist who pursues and traps young men in marriage, and on their wedding night, takes off with all the money and jewellery. Dolly’s look is so captivating that no man can resist her.

The talented team of decorators and makeup artists completely transformed White Loft Studio into a Bollywood dream scene. The set pulled inspiration from the original movie with bright pops of fuschia and red with orange and gold accents. The amount of effort that goes into the Bollywood Recreation series is astonishing. It took a team to produce the final product you see – from ornate and embellished pillows to draping, candles, flowers and lighting – it was pure magic.

Manal was inspired by Dolly’s traditional look with a modern twist and felt compelled to kick-off 2019 with fierceness. By pairing Gucci sneakers and a leather jacket with beautiful lenghas made by Chandan Fashion (@chandanfashion) and custom made jewellery by Free Rani (@free_rani), Manal pulled it off with so much style and ease, showing us you don’t have to be a Bollywood star to look like one on set.
